Is training needed for the work you do. Of course, you need someone to teach you the right way to do things. You can learn from study materials but unless you have an expert who guides you in the way it has to be done, you will take more time to learn.

There are people who are self motivated and can learn like teaching yourself how to play a musical instrument. Training helps you in clearing your bugs. It’s always better to try to learn yourself and then go for training.

From my personal experience, I was taught AMX by a seasoned AMX programmer. But only after I started going to site did I learn how to really code in AMX.

In Biamp, I did online classes and then went for a site. I was not able to finish, missed a flight since I was not able to complete and finally had to go for a week’s training to become confident.

In Crestron, basic training in Crestron office was not enough for me to clear troubleshooting and loading codes. It took sites for me to learn how to code and try new ways to do coding.

How to make trainings more effective.

  1. Practice makes perfect.
  2. Do a refresher course every time you think you forget.
